All classes are based on the teachings of classical yoga and include traditional mantra (chanting), pranayama (breath work), and asana (postures). We adhere to a flow of postures in the tradition of Sri Dharma Mittra’s Shiva Namaskara Vinyasa. Posture, Breath, and Concentration lead to radiant health and purity of body and mind. We offer practices of all levels. Remember to move with a meditative, respectful attitude, or bhava; this leads to Self-realization.

Class Descriptions

All classes run an hour and a half unless noted otherwise.

Level I Level I introduces basic postures, Sun Salutes, foundational principles of movement, and basic pranayama. This is a good place for anyone to begin their study of life on the mat. No previous experience needed. Gentle instruction and guidance. Lots of personal attention.

Level II More challenging than level I, Level II introduces more postures, including arm balances and inversions, and variations. A basic foundation of yoga is recommended before taking this class.

Level III Level III is for intermediate-advanced students who appreciate a challenging, fluid sequence. The pace is continuous and the room mildly heated to burn through the physical and psychic impediments to realizing Self.Postures are complex, with many inversions, twists, and backbends. Level III sharpens intention and deepens devotion to living through the light of the Self.  Bring a towel.

Level IV Level IV is for advanced yogis and teachers only. The swift pace and warm room produce heat to purify and detoxify the body. We work the full range of postures and their many variations, including padmasana, sirsasana, and full backbends. Lengthy meditation, pranayama, and mantra sessions purify the mind. Level IV cleanses all the koshas so we can experience our inner light. This class runs two hours.

Dharma Mittra Yoga (DY) Levels 1-4 These classes adhere strictly to Dharma Mittra's yoga sequences.

Restorative Yoga Restorative sequencing takes the student into a deep somatic experience. Forward folds open the back and calm the nervous system, prompting self-investigation. Light abdominal exercise refuels our pranic tank. Mild, supported backbends and twists free the energy in the body. Gentle inversions relieve the daily demands made on our legs and hips. This class is for everyone.

Mindfulness Yoga Mindfulness is complete acceptance of just this moment, just this breath. Yoga means union or yoking of the body and the mind. We will explore posture and meditation, mat and cushion, mindfully merging both. We will work with the breath, following its movements through the body, being present in just this moment, just now. As we turn the lens inward, we will learn more about the asana, the breath, and ourselves.

Meditation This is an opportunity to meditate with a group in a supportive environment. Practice in your own tradition or learn new techniques and reap the benefits of a quiet mind. One hour. $8 fee. (no class card)

Beginner's Yoga is devoted to new students and those seeking to return to the foundations of the practice: basic asanas, principles of alignment, and breathing techniques. The aim is to build strength, flexibility, balance, and confidence. The course runs in six-week repeating cycles; join the class at any time.

Fees: Drop-in classes: $15, 10-class pass: $130, 20-class pass: $220, Cash and checks only.
